Celebrate Pride Month Virtually with These 5 Philly Events

Pride Month, which lasts for the entire month of June, is an incredible time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, many of the Pride events in Philly had to be cancelled or postponed. However, just because some of the in-person events had to be cancelled, Pride month is still going strong in Philly. Here are 5 amazing online events you can attend to celebrate Pride Month over the next week, from a History Happy Hour to a Healthy Sexuality Workshop!

  1. Your Body Calls Me Home - A Poetry Reading
    On Tuesday, June 23rd, at 6 pm, attend this free live-stream with playwright Josh A. Campbell. This University of the Arts graduate will read an excerpt of his poetry, focused on the inner lived of queer black and brown millennial men.   2. Group Painting Session with Liberty Learning Live
    On Wednesday, June 24th, at 10am, the National Liberty Museum will be hosting a free, virtual painting session. Led by museum educator Emily Mullin, viewers can paint the pride flag, while learning about the history of the flag, its importance, and the significance of each color.   3. Virtual LGBTQ+ Happy Hour and History Lesson
    Drag Queen Lili St. Queer will start by leading viewers through a cocktail/mocktail tutorial, beginning at 5 pm on Thursday, June 25th. The drink recipe comes from the Tavern on Camac, the oldest gay bar in Philly. Then viewers can sip on their drinks while listening to the vibrant history of Philadelphia gay bars!   4. Healthy Sexuality Workshops for Youth
    The Mazzoni Center is hosting a free series of sexuality workshops for youth aged 13-24 to celebrate pride month. On Monday, June 29th, at 4pm, viewers will learn about sex, romantic relationships, identity, and community. Viewers will also have a chance to engage in a Q&A session.
